"Ooops, I did it again..."

"Live as if you like yourself, and it may happen." -- Marge Piercy

This came in an email to me a few days ago and bam!!! there it was a compliment to the thoughts mulling around in my head. I bet this happens to you too and if it doesn't, believe me it really does, you are just not ready to see it. Don't worry, you have second chances, third chances and God keeps on sending you messages until you have that BAM moment or AHA moment.

So I was thinking about all the times I had done some things which were not exactly my most shining moments and BAM!!! and AHA!!! I realized those actions were based on fear. Not exactly the "boogyman" kind of fear but fear of lack of approval, fear of not belonging, fear of not being who I really am.

Being who I really am is the hardest part. Many of us grow up being told to not do this and not do that and we think the "them" telling us are really, really mean, when in actuality they do have our best interest at heart. If we only go to "them" and talk it out the temptation leaves and we have an understanding of the why. God is like that too. If we don't turn our temptations, our problems and our fears to our creator, we dismiss the power of God and our ego says "go ahead you're a big girl or boy (as the case may be) you can handle it." Nine times out of ten, you may get away with it and when that tenth time occurs, should grace escape you, who do you turn to? If you turn to your ego, oh man, that is a mean one to turn to because ego has a very difficult time of forgiving oneself (or anyone for that matter) and even deceive you into believing the one time caught will be the only time and there is no need to change, everyone else must change to accept your way.

Gandhi has been paraphrased by so many people but the only change that can ever occur is within one's self. To bring about change one must get to the center of who they are. Most people can more easily identify who they are not. In the same light they can identify what they don't want more easily than what they truly want. Begin this week to start identifying what you truly want and say a prayer of thanks to your creator because it is already yours. Speak your truth in gratitude and watch things improve.

Blessings,
